for queer teens
Bio

After moving to Seattle and then North Carolina, they married their cosplay sweetheart and were adopted by several cats and a Donut, who take up Ash's time not spent writing.

Ash Nouveau is a YA author represented by Michaela Whatnall at Dystel, Goderich & Bourret. They write speculative fiction so queer teens can see (and maybe even find) themselves in books like Ash never quite did.

My mom still has a very valuable first (only) edition of my original illustrated book CATS IN SPACE from 2nd grade, but I've been making up stories as long as I can remember. I haven't always written them down, but my back yard was everything from a deserted beach to a magical kingdom.
I think I always wanted to be a writer, but didn't realize people got *paid* to write books until I was 13. I dabbled in journalism and thought I wanted to be an editor, but my heart and life put me back on the path to write fiction books of my own, and I'm more than happy it did.
I connected with the amazing Michaela Whatnall through a Twitter pitch contest called #PitMad! There are tons of pitch contests to consider if you're querying, including #DVPit (for marginalised creators) and even more specific ones like #SFFPit (for sci-fi/fantasy) or #PitDark (for darker works of fiction).
